My truth….

January 20th, 2017

Getting ready for the Women’s March in Portland, I am reminded of a sweet story about Mother Teresa….it was said she would never march in an “Anti-War” protest demonstration…..but would always participate in a demonstration for “Peace”. I march tomorrow for what I believe to be my truth and my hope.

Yes, I still “Got Hope?”

Veterans Day

November 11th, 2016

Words fail when it comes to expressing my gratitude for the heartfelt service and sacrifice of our veterans…and current service “guardians”. This is a re-post from a few years ago…but today, more than ever, I feel we need to be reminded of the values and beliefs of what it means to be American.

I found this letter among my late father’s is his letter of gratitude from the Secretary of the Navy for his service in WWII. I thought it was everything that I would like to say…today and everyday….to each and every man and woman that serves this country.

A letter of gratitude

When the muse is napping…or taking a few days off…and you need a little inspiration…it’s time to spend some nonsense time fooling around SCRAP…just gets the creative juices sparkin’

A bit about process…

July 19th, 2016

I love learning how artists approach their work…always curious to see their studio set up…do they listen to music…eat a particular food…are their critters around…what gets them started in the morning…or is it more like after dark????

Scrolling thru my phone photos, I realized I had a little photo story to tell…

What I want to do every day is this: ( Beautiful Objects courtesy of Amy Duncan and JoEllen Newton)

what we want to do

But that process starts out looking more like a blank page…or a blank canvas…or, in my case, an empty table, cleaned off and ready for me to do some Assemblage!

clean slate

I have various piles of  “stuff” that have been calling to me…

cast to go

And so, it begins…

This time, with the additional inspiration and loving hands of Jodi Cain who has given us the starting point of creating one of her signature clay heads…

Buried Treasure…

June 27th, 2016

“I happen to believe that we are all walking repositories of buried treasure.”

That’s what Elizabeth Gilbert says….and I believe her….some days more than others…some days, I WANT to believe and have to talk myself into it…other days, I decide to give myself loving encouragement so I go to an Art Party at Four Corners Design . It was time to fall in love with creating from pure inspiration again…back to the place where you lose track of time and “should” and

jump in an art puddle.

Words of love and hope from Lin-Manuel Miranda…

“My wife’s the reason anything gets done
She nudges me towards promise by degrees
She is a perfect symphony of one
Our son is her most beautiful reprise.
We chase the melodies that seem to find us
Until they’re finished songs and start to play
When senseless acts of tragedy remind us
That nothing here is promised, not one day.
This show is proof that history remembers
We lived through times when hate and fear seemed stronger;
We rise and fall and light from dying embers, remembrances that hope and love last longer
And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside.
I sing Vanessa’s symphony, Eliza tells her story
Now fill the world with music, love and pride.”
